NESTLE BICHOLIM INDUSTRIAL VISIT REPORT

On the 24th of March 2018 about 27 students from FYBBA visited the esteemed industry ‘Nestle’ based in Bicholim Goa at 2:00 pm along with two teachers Miss. Harsha Talaulikar and Miss Sunita Lewis.

This industrial visit gave the students an insight about the way things work in the real life business and work scenario. The visit was aimed at enhancing the knowledge, as well as taking a look at the entire factory and learning how different departments function.

AN OVERVIEW OF THE INDUSTRIAL VISIT

The visit was aimed at enhancing our knowledge, we took a round of the entire industry and were given the required knowledge and demonstration of the basic hygiene and cleanliness before entering the factory, the tasks were well explained along with knowledge of how different departments function.

The entire industrial visit was an educational one teaching us a lot to take back and practise in our daily lives, right from learning how a factory works to how much safety and security the factory ensures, was very education.

Workshop on “TCP/IP Configuration & Networking Basics

BCA Dept. of Sridora Caculo College of Commerce and Management studies organized a workshop on “TCP/IP Configuration & Networking Basics” on 14th February 2017 for first year BCA students. The Resource person for the workshop was Mr. Vinay Joglekar, Sr. Analyst, Times of India /Accenture Pvt Ltd. Mr. Amar Naik, Asst Prof – Dept. of Computer Application introduced the resource person. Mr. Vinay Joglekar focused on Basics of Networking concepts, networking commands, Configuration of TCP/IP and sharing files folders with security. Participants gain hands on experience on these topics.

Workshop on: PC Configuration, Assembling and BIOS Setup

Resource person: Mr. Girish Manjrekar, Goa Tech Services (Owner)

BCA Dept. of Sridora Caculo College of Commerce and Management studies organized a workshop on “PC Configuration, Assembling and BIOS Setup” on 13th September 2017 for the students of First year BCA. The Resource person for the workshop was Mr. Girish Manjrekar from Goa Tech Services. Mr. Amar Naik, Assistant professor, BCA department introduced the resource person. The Resource person demonstrated students the process of disassembling an entire computer, how various components of a computer fit and work together, and familiarized with essential terminologies regarding computer’s hardware, software and network. He also demonstrated the “Partitioning and Formatting” a hard disk, Installing Windows Operating system and basics of BIOS setup.

It was an interactive and fun workshop where students learnt and understood essential topics by asking, listening and answering, together with the instructor and gained the real-time experience on Configuration, Assembling and BIOS setup of a computer.

 

Workshop on: Web development using PHP

Date: 9th September 2017

Resource person: Mr. Pranay Vernekar, Software Engineer, Creative Capsule India Pvt. Ltd.

BCA Dept. of Sridora Caculo College of Commerce and Management studies organized a one day workshop on “Web development using PHP” on 9th September 2017 for the students of Third year BCA. The Resource person for the workshop was Mr. Pranay Vernekar, Software Engineer from Creative Capsule India Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Amar Naik, Assistant professor, BCA department introduced the resource person. The workshop was held in two sessions. In the first session the resource person covered the basics required for programming in PHP language such as PHP Installation, syntax and semantics. Later he focused on important concepts mainly Associative Arrays, Form Handling, Sessions, and Cookies etc. During the Second session he demonstrated the implementation of a website using PHP, JQuery and MYSQL database connectivity.

 

Low Cost Travel and Tourism

Mr. Ramchandra Salgaonkar, Entrepreneur, Partner in Soul Traveling delivered a talk for the students on 31st January, 2018 for the students of BBA. The topic for the talk about low cost travel and the importance of travel in improving one’s perspective towards life and the positive impact it has on one’s professional life. The 2-hour talk was attended by 40 students of the SYBBA. The students enjoyed the session the overall feedback was very positive.

 

Conflict Management and its Applications

Mr. Magan Sawant, Teacher of Physics, Li P Chun United World College of Hong Kong  and Ms. Nitu Nahar, Head of Computer Science Department, Chinese International School of  Hong Kong, were invited to conduct a session on; ‘Conflict Management and its Application’ for the students of BBA on the 28th of July, 2018. The session was attended by 35 students of TYBBA. The session was interesting wherein the experts discussed various instances where conflict can arise in a work place and how to handle this conflict. They involved the students through various conflict management games to give the students a practical fun demo on this subject.

 

Equity Markets in India and the role of SEBI

Mr. Anand Tendulkar, CA, Executive, SEBI( Securities Exchange Board of India) delivered a talk for the students of BBA on the  14th March, 2018. The talk was conducted in the SEBI office at Panaji, Goa. This was attended by 27 students of TYBBA. The talk focused on creating an awareness among the students about the Equity markets in India and the role of SEBI in regulating this market. The session was well received by all the students who attended.

Industrial Visit to D-Link Pvt. Ltd.

Department of Computer Applications, Sridora Caculo College of Commerce & Management Studies had beeen to D-Link Pvt. Ltd., Verna Goa on 4th March 2016 for an Industrial Visit led by Asst. Professor Mr. Amar Naik and Other faculty members for the FY/Sy/TY BCA students. On behalf of company Mr. Rohit Messias (Sales & Support) and Akshay Shanbhag (TechnicalSupport) gave information and demonstration regarding various D-Link products, processes and operations to the students. The objective of this field visit was to give an industrial exposure to the students.

Industry Visit Creative Capsule Infotech Pvt. Ltd.

Department of Computer Applications of S.V.’s Sridora Caculo College of Commerce & Management Studies organized an Industrial visit to Creative Capsule Infotech Pvt. Ltd., Verna Goa on 21th February 2018 for the BCA students, led by Asst. Professor Mr. Amar Naik and other staff members. On behalf of the company, Mr. David Aguiar (Internal Communications Officer) welcomed and introduced to the team Creative Capsule Infotech. Mr. Gautam Gosavi (Technical Manager) gave an Overview about the Company. Later various teams gave demonstration of Projects they have undertaken and delivered in various domains. Also a case study was taken on “Bungii” – a startup developed by bunch of graduates. The UI/UX team gave an overview of Visual design, Screen Interfaces, User Experience, Flat Design, Responsive UI etc and also the Jobs available in I.T. specially in Front-End such as UI/UX designer, Visual designer, UX Researcher, UI Developer etc. A small quiz was conducted for the students and winners were awarded with the prizes. Students got an opportunity to interact with their teams that focused on how to keep abreast with the latest technologies in the IT sector and expectations of the IT Industry. The objective of this field trip was to give an industrial exposure to the students.

Industry Visit to Parle G Anand Foods

The college had organised an Industrial visit to Hyderabad in November 2018. 30 students from B. Com. along with 5 teachers visited Parle G Anand Foods, 16-1-486, Saidabad Telangana – 500059, Hyderabad (India). The concerned person Mr. Suresh Chand Gupta and his team took us around their biscuits manufacturing process. The visit concluded with an exhibition of a documentary on Parle product range and its health benefits in their auditorium.

    Educational Tour Incharge

Field Trip to CIBA Agnel Institute, Assagao, Goa

The Entrepreneur development cell organised a field trip to CIBA (Centre for Incubation and Business Acceleration), Agnel Institute, Assago, Goa on 22nd September, 2016.

Students from TY B.Com took part in the field trip. Around 50 students in total visited the centre.

A presentation on services offered by CIBA and activities conducted was given by the staff. Various facilities offered were shown to the students. The incubates shared their experiences with the students. 

Field Trip- (Centre for Incubation and Business Acceleration)

Field trip for students of final year and second year, Saraswat BCA was conducted on 22nd February 2018. The aim of the CIBA is to provide guidance to young and budding enthepreneurs about the entire process of starting and running an own innovative enterprise. The team of experts namely Mr. navil Veigas (manager of CIBA), Mr. Samir highlighted key aspects of Business Startup and Mr. Gregory Scott Acuna shared his experiences on a startup game “Acting Kindly”. 

Field Visit to Caculo Mall (Retailing Management)

A field visit to Caculo Mall, panjim was organised on 25th September 2018 for the students of Retailing Management. 10 students accomplished their subject teacher Ma. Sterol Godinho. The students were briefded on the purpose of field trip and to observe retail practices. i.e. signages and graphics, Layouts, customer relation, EDI, etc.

The students were given detailed tour of the outlet and explained the quality of benchmarks and unique retail practices which have made the retail outlet successfull. This was followed by the presentation on “retail practices”.  

Industry-Academic Interaction

Industry and academic interaction was organised on 6th September, 2018    in Annad Keni hall. Shri Sanjay   Bharne & Samrudh Bharne from retail industry were the guest speakers. Principal Dr Santosh Patkar welcomed the gathering and said that there is need of industry and academic interaction which will help the students to know problem faced by the industry. In Academic student are delivered a theoretical aspect and   practical knowledge is limited or absolutely not possible. Hence students need the practical exposures hence frequent visit to industry to industry people coming the academic will help to create good interaction between Industry and academic

 Shri Sanjay Bharne, proprietor of Bharne Group narrated the history of their business and difficulties faced in starting their business. He narrated the   importance of the customer and   what care has to be taken to retain the customers.  He said the capital is very important in starting the business. He said along with the capital risk is the major factor which they are faced in the business.  Entrepreneur should always think of expansion of the business and considering with this he said the next generation of his has taken care and expanded business.

 Shri Samrudh Bharne said it is very important to identify the trend of the customer and what type of the goods are demanded by the generations.  He said what the young generation demanded than it is required to keep the good accordingly. He said   industry it is required to take quick decision by considering all factors.

SEMINAR ON CAREER OPTION IN INSURANCE INDUSTRY

A seminar on career option in Insurance industry was held on 27th March, 2019 in seminar hall. Shri Pradeep Joshi, well known Insurance Agent from Insurance Industry was present for the seminar.  Dr Patkar, principal said that insurance is the second largest industry after bank which provides employment opportunity to youth. Life insurance is one of the largest industry owned and controlled by the government covering the risk o.   One of the important objective of the insurance industry was to protect the life of the people by covering the risk.

 Shri Pradeep Joshi spoke on the topic job Opportunity through insurance and customer relationship. He said that customer is very important in Business. In Insurance   the agent has to give good Services to customers. People keep trust on the agent and invest in insurance. After the death or any untoward incident in the family, the family is depend totally on the money invested in Insurance. Hence it is very important to provide the service and put the claim properly so that the dependent of the family gets the amount from Insurance Company.  He said it is very important to win the trust of the people and   you can win by being sincere and honest to customers

He also added that there is lot of competition from the private insurance company but still people have trust in the Life insurance Company.  It has branches all over India and it is consider as one of the largest insurance   industry in India. He appeal to students to choose their career as insurance agent and be independent.

Seminar On Business Ideas and Job Opportunities

Ms. Priyanka Row, Founder Director of Brunch Bites conducted a session for the students on 5th January, 2019 for the students of BBA. Brunch Bites is a startup with a focus on food reviews and food delivery. The topic for the seminar was on the business idea of brunch bites and the potential job opportunities for BBA students in the food delivery business and Brunch Bites in specific. The 2-hour session was attended by students of the TYBBA. The students enjoyed the session the overall feedback was very positive.

Seminar On Higher Education Choices

Dr. Vishal Agarwal, Director, Lakshya Academy conducted a session for the students on 17th January, 2019 for the students of BBA. The topic for the session about higher education choices for BBA students after graduation. The expert spoke about how students should choose the right MBA institute and also about the preparation for the entrance exams. The 2-hour session was attended by 53 students of the TYBBA. The students enjoyed the session the overall feedback was very positive.

Seminar On Investor Awareness Programme

Mr. Abhay Navghare, Executive, National Stock Exchange conducted a session for the students on 17th January, 2019 for the students of SYBBA. The topic for the session about investor awareness program with a special emphasis on investment in stock markets. The seminar was conducted in 3 batches of about 10 students each. The seminar was an enriching experience for the students.

 

Seminar On Careers In Finance Industry

Mr. Ajit Sathe, Head Sr. Manager Risk Management for Bajaj Finance, Pune conducted a seminar for the students on 18th  January, 2019 for the students of BBA. The topic for the session about careers in Finance Industry for BBA students. The 2-hour session was attended by 47 students of the SYBBA. The students enjoyed the session the overall feedback was very positive.

Experience sharing by Entrepreneur in Tourism Industry

Mr. Sawani Shetye, Archaeologist and Founder of Bhoomij Heritage, conducted a session for the students on 16th February, 2018 for the students of BBA. The topic for the session about her experience as solo female traveler. The session was exclusively conducted for the female students of BBA and threw light on various issues women face during travel and ways to tackle these. The seminar was attended by 26 students from the FY, SY and TY.
